Dubai Desert Classic 2012 Betting Preview
Next stop is the Emirates Golf Club, hosting this week’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2012 Betting Preview.
The course measures 7300 yards from the tips and water comes into play on 10 of the 18 holes at Emirates Golf Club. As at all the other Middle Eastern venues of European Tour events, this course is in fantastic condition with firm greens running just over 12 on the stimpmeter…this will require high approach shots and superb touch on and around the greens.
Alvaro Quiros is the defending champion and is looking to make it three out of three in Dubai after winning the Dubai World Championship in December 2011. The last two Dubai Desert Classic winning totals have not been exceptionally low (11 under) and the wind is set to be blowing in gusts over the weekend so could be a similar score this year. Let’s take a look at our tips for this week in our Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2012 Betting Preview.
Martin Kaymer each way @ 8/1 (World Sports Betting) – After a solid performance last week at the Qatar Masters finishing T10th, Kaymer is finding his feet again after a slow start to the season. His scores have improved each round this year and think he’ll be looking to get back to winning ways in Dubai especially after having a solid record of 2nd-4th-4th-31st his last four years. I was hoping for a better price, but this still beats Rory McIlroy’s price of 4/1 to win outright…stick with Martin Kaymer each way!
George Coetzee each way @ 40/1 (World Sports Betting) – Coetzee is becoming one of the most solid players on the European Tour recording eight top 10′s last season and starting off the 2012 season fairly well contending at the Joburg Open before a disappointing final round and then finishing T6th at Abu Dhabi. He enjoys windy conditions as well and is a power player…he’s going to be winning very soon on the European Tour & it may just start this week.
Lee Westwood each way @ 10/1 (Sportsbet) – He’s always in the frame it seems like and is one player you can’t leave out, his price is a little on the short side, but nonetheless we’re backing him each way…once he gets on a roll like at the Nedbank Golf Challenge third round he can tear any course up and hit long drives with iron shots knocking the flag out of every hole. He has finished 10/39/2/15/?… his last four Dubai Desert Classic appearances, you notice the pattern?
Alvaro Quiros each way @ 25/1 (Bettingworld) – I’m going with the Spaniard again after he disappointed last week in Qatar. He is defending champion, he has a good record at the Dubai Desert Classic showing 13/6/1 his last 3 appearances and he’ll be rearing to go. He has the length off the tee to be able to higher/softer approaches, last week he averaged 33.5 putts per round, but was 2nd in Greens In Regulation so if his putter gets even close to warm he’ll be right there without a doubt…good price, get involved!
Summary for Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2012
- Martin Kaymer each way @ 8/1 – 1 unit each (2 units total)
- George Coetzee each way @ 40/1 – 1 unit each (2 units total)
- Lee Westwood each way @ 10/1 – 1 unit each (2 units total)
- Alvaro Quiros each way @ 25/1 – 1 unit each (2 units total)
For those who are interested in Rory McIlroy he is priced up at 4/1 with most bookies, which is a little too short for me when you consider for a top 5 he’ll be 1/1…if you are going to back him then again I suggest waiting until after the first round as if he opens with an average round you will get a far better price to back him at. Even If he opens with a good round he won’t be that much shorter in price…Patience is a virtue!
Good luck and let’s clean up this week keeping our consistent Getinthehole run in tact!
Cheers
