Commercialbank Qatar Masters 2012 Betting Preview
The European Tour finds itself in Doha this week and we’ve put together a solid Commercialbank Qatar Masters 2012 Betting Preview for you to look through.
The Championship Course at Doha Golf Club is long (measuring 7400 yards) and challenging and can be fairly windswept on its day. The greens are firm and exposed to the wind, which makes putting tricky. The fairways are fairly wide and rough not that punishing so the longer hitters will be happy about that.
The closing stretch of holes 16, 17 & 18 will provide an exciting close to the tournament as there a couple of risk/reward shots for players to consider. Defending champion is Thomas Bjorn who won on 14 under last year and played well in Abu Dhabi last week as well. Let’s take a look at our betting tips for this week and make some money!
Retief Goosen each way @ 20/1 (World Sports Betting) – Retief has started his year off well having a few good finishes (3rd-16th-2nd) in his first three events of the season. He took last week off for a much needed break, he has done well in the desert before and loves playing in heat and pristine conditions. The forecast is for tough scoring conditions as well, which suits him down to a tee!…
KJ Choi each way @ 35/1 (Bettingworld) – World number 15 KJ Choi of South Korea is set for the 2012 Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy at Doha Golf Club this week. In the past few years, the $2.5 million tournament has consistently attracted the cream of the world’s best players and this year is no exception with Choi Doha-bound nine months after winning the biggest title of his professional career, The Players Championship. Choi is a Terminator on the course and completely walks through it every time, he should be in contention on Sunday afternoon.
Sergio Garcia each way @ 14/1 (Sportsbet) – Sergio got his season off to a good start last week in Abu Dhabi finishing in a tie for 12th after having not played for over a month. He is a great driver of the ball and similarly a great iron player…his putting has definitely taken a turn for the better since mid last year carding two victories as well so I think we’ll see Sergio back to his best this year…slightly short price, but back him for a win and a place!
Alvaro Quiros each way @ 16/1 (Sportsbet) – The tall Spaniard shows the best recent record at the Qatar Masters showing a win-2nd-2nd in his last three years in Doha…impressive! He didn’t play well last week missing the cut,but he would’ve ‘needed that run’ to shake off any dust, Quiros loves golf in the middle east and I expect to see him bounce back to his best this week…Vamos!!
Cheapskate Charlie’s selections for the week:
Soren Hansen for a top 10 @ 20/1 (World Sports Betting)- He hasn’t had the best of times in recent years, but this tournament he enjoys and each year seems to get better in Doha showing a 42nd-31st-20th-6th in his last 4 years…if he gets off to a reasonable start I think he’ll stick around for a top 10 finish at a good price!
Branden Grace for a place @ 25/2 (World Sports Betting) – Can he get back to his best after having a slight tea break last week?..we think he can definitely make a case for himself and show he can compete outside of his home country. Talented player and there’s more to come so have a small nibble on him for a place
